From an egg to caterpillar,
I crawled for years in dirt.
From one patch to another,
I chased impulses that left me hurt.

From caterpillar to cocoon,
my outer form slowly changed.
From impulsiveness to patience,
I knew the inside was also being rearranged.

From cocoon to butterfly,
there are these wings I have gained.
From crawling to flying,
I celebrate the beauty of all things unexplained.
